Tradition has it that the cross of Saint Bridget protects the house from fires and evil spells. The cross is associated with Bridget of Ireland (° 451 - † 525) who is venerated as one of the patron saints of Ireland.

We have the traditional 3-pointed Celtic cross and the 4-pointed cross reinvented by the church.
